For the year-long art project #DailySocialTransfer Franz Wassermann buys a newspaper every day. With translucent tape he extracts image and text fragments from the newspaper and re-collages them on blank A4 sized paper. In doing so Wassermann creates one ACTION CARRIER per day which is put up for sale online on the blog www.dailysocialtransfer.com. The original artworks of this series are branded with an embossing in form of a hashtag and are sold for the special price of 149 Euros each. With #DailySocialTransfer Wassermann addresses the financial dependence of artists from the art market that ties up their art works to a certain price and therefore makes it impossible to also sell in a middle price range. #DailySocialTransfer creates autonomy in two ways: Wassermann´s art pieces become affordable also for art enthusiasts with a small budget and the artist secures his existence and his art with a source of income that is independent from the art market. |
